Cancel holiday due to pregnancy?

I have a holiday booked for July with 7 other people, I’ve found out I’m pregnant and due the week after the holiday so assume I won’t be covered by my insurance if I did fly out and anything happened due to how far along I’d be. I’ve checked to see if I can remove myself from the holiday and just lose my deposit however it’s through love holidays and they want the full holiday amount + £75 to remove me. It’s full cost of flights + £75 and possible charge for hotel for a name change also that’s if I managed to find someone to buy my place meaning it wouldn't be very cost effective. My travel insurance was purchased before the holiday and before I found out I was pregnant as it’s a yearly subscription so I’m wondering if I’d be able to claim the money back through that? Is there any other way I can get out of this holiday without paying more than I would if I went on it?

Thanks

  • Update - I’ve checked the T’s and C’s of my insurance unfortunately because I’m paying as a payment plan I’m not covered (I am only covered if I was unaware of the pregnancy until after it was paid off) so I’m really stuck now 😢
  • So the cheapest option would be to pay for the holiday and not turn up.

Probably not feasible as there are 7 other people involved.
  • Just don't turn up - unfortunately they don't owe you anything so you're stuck with the T&Cs of booking.

Congratulations, though! It's only money. And just think of the funny story you'll be able to tell your child when he/she is old enough. I know it doesn't seem at all funny now but well, hey! you are having a baby. That's good news, I hope?
