Solar Panel mis-selling

  • I have just been contacted by ANIC Associates Ltd from telephone 02039899036 offering to make a mis-sold Solar Panel claim.

My array was installed in July 2014 by Clean Green Energy Ltd, who went bust in 2016. Clearly my data used in that purchase has been sold onto other companies as I have received many unsolicited sales calls from others wanting my ongoing business. ANIC is one of those companies who have my purchase data from July 2014 as they were alleging that I have a claim against the bank who financed my purchase because I could not use the warranty as the installer had gone bust. The bank might be liable under the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

I asked ANIC to send me their proposal in an email, which they have done. The email contains their contract, the main clause of which states that if I sign/agree to the contract I will be legally bound to provide them with all the details of my purchase or else I breach the contract and can be sued by them. They promise to advise me how to make a direct claim, and want 33% of any money obtained.

I am not going to sign their contract, nor engage their services.

I am perfectly happy with my Solar System and I have a local electrical company on hand to deal with any issues. I should point out that I purchased the system using cash savings and no finance was involved. For me, it was a good investment for my savings - the FIT income is considerably more than I would have got from any savings interest. I don't consider that I have any claim for mis-selling, so to make a claim would be as waste of time. ANIC do not mention anything about No Win No Fee.

This is another company who are jumping on the bandwagon of financial claims. Their 'dedicated assistant' will point YOU in the right direction to make a claim, then take 1/3 of the possible money you get. YOU have to do all the work and there is the risk they will bill you for their services at the end of the day.

I INTEND TO EMAIL THEM FORMALLY STATING THAT I DO NOT WISH TO ENGAGE WITH ANY CLAIM and REQUIRE THEM TO DELETE MY PERSONAL DATA FROM THEIR SYSTEM UNDER THE DATA PROTECTION ACT (No-one is allowed to hold personal data on their system without the subject's permission).

They're still at it, I had a call from ANIC Associates on 02039899049 this afternoon with much the same spiel. I told the chancer who called that we didn't have any solar panels and he lost interest ...

  • Sadly it has, very belatedly, become clear to me, now aged 80, that I have been the victim of a major financial scam with regard to the installation in Jan 2015, by Clean Green Home Energy Ltd of 16 solar panels, and a Feed In Tariff meter - (which I have been told may well now not be functioning properly).    It seems clear that I have had way over £10,000 virtually stolen from me by Clean Green Home Energy Ltd (which went bankrupt a few months later)  A system funded by a loan they arranged with Ikano Bank which, by charging interest at 9.9% over 10 years, meant that I have been due to pay over £15,194.31 until in 2019 I used equity release to pay off the iniquitous Ikano bank loan. In retrospect I have now calculated that it was costing me £126 per month for a system which only gave me an average of £40 reduction in my electricity bill

Now that I have finally realised what has happened, I am trying to work out how to proceed, in an attempt to salvage something worthwhile out of the wreckage. An genuine help or suggestions welcome
