iPad or Chromebook?

That may be the case but have you owned an ipad for 6 years?
We haven't been able to.
This one lasted 2 years. The one before it got to about 4 or 5 before it really started to give up the ghost and we took advantage of a trade in deal. The tab before that I think was actually top level Samsung which only lasted about 2 years before becoming heavily laggy and it crawled its way to a 3rd year.0 -
However the article says though the six years starts from when the model was released, not from when you buy it and so some only have two years of support since the model has been released for a few years. I guess you'd have to research the exact chromebook model and its release date.

Correct - that's the point I was trying (but failed) to get across.bobfredbob said:However the article says though the six years starts from when the model was released, not from when you buy it and so some only have two years of support since the model has been released for a few years. Here's a link to the official Google website.

That's a good site. So, if we take the first few chromebooks from the Currys page in the original post, the C523 gets a last update of June 2024, as does the R13, but the Lenovo Duet is supported until June 2028. Whether the built-in obsolescence date makes a practical difference to most people? I guess it depends if Google/FB/etc. prevent you logging on because "your browser is insecure/too old."
