When my meter was smart the IHD tariff was wrong and there seemed to a be a random figure in there for the standing charge. My on-line account with SSE (who installed the smart meter) was always two days behind the actual meter reading and bills were only updated every three months, so it was nearly as good as useless.

Now it's not smart anymore it doesn't show any cost figures but it's still useful to remotely read the meter and get history data (save's me going outside to get a reading).

As others have said, take your own readings direct from the meter unless you have checked that the IHD is reading the meter consumption accurately. Ignore any monetary calculations as they either rely on the correct tariffs being set in the meter or IHD or downloads from the supplier which may or may not as up to date as you'd wish and are likely to be wrong.

Ensure that the meter is actually sending data to your supplier and that they are being used on your bills and statements (look at your on-line account) and keep your own spreadsheet
