Recommended cheap double glazing suppliers around London

Does anyone have any recommendations for cheap double glazing suppliers that cover the London area? Not looking for anything fancy, just normal UPVC double glazing.

Thanks in advance

Edit: For those who are getting hung up on the "cheap" word in the subject...I'm asking for companies that are recommended by people. The fact that they are recommending those companies, implies they are already over some level of customer expectation. Of those recommended companies, I am looking at the ones on the cheaper end of the scale. So the first two words of the subject "Recommended cheap..." summarises this thought quite well.

Seems like you didn't read the topic subject. No one's going to recommend a company that falls into the "buy cheap buy twice".

  • Do you want a window frame and glazing units or someone to install them as well.   There are trade suppliers around .

Ah, the Daily Mail.  I'm surprised nobody has used the usual, "simply use your extensive network of contacts to find at least three good, local <insert tradesman> in your area.

I've used checkatrade type sites a few times with no problems. If you use them as a way of making contact and then meet and assess the people as you would normally then they can be useful.  There are rogues everywhere but most tradespeople are honest.

For double glazing, you could try this service.

I’ve personally used ‘north London trade windows’. Local firm based Enfield way, but cover most of North London. Was about 10 years ago, I’ve recommended them to friends who used them about 5 years ago and they were happy.

  • As soon as you put "cheap" at the top of your criteria, you open yourself up to poor workmanship, poor quality etc. When doing any work on your house you can choose price, quality and speed. The three are all interlinked so you can't have all of them. You would be far better off asking around neighbours for a recommendation.

Go for the best price, not cheap.
The people who bought my house have put cheap windows in because they are doing it up and selling it on so not important to them.
The windows look cheap too even to an inexperienced eye and spoiled a beautiful old house.
I got a few quotes before doing the patio doors in my new house. The cheapest he was more interested in the view over the fence than looking at the job or listening to me so not going to worry too much about the finished work.
The one I chose not a huge amount more agreed to make the damaged floor around them good as part of the job.

Absolutely, and that is what was implied but people take the words too literally.
Cheap is not and true/false attribute, it is a large range off attributes.
The post subject's first word is "Recommended"...this means that I'm only interested in the companies that people have had a positive experience about. Of that set of companies, there will be a wide range of prices and thus saying "Recommended cheap..." means that it is a good company that have value for money pricing (which is exactly what I wanted).

Any rubbish companies or cowboy companies are not going to be recommended. So I'm not sure why people are completely ignoring the word "recommended" and choose to focus on "cheap". Seems that people are a little tunnel visioned.
