  • @Coffeekup Have you got a link to where to you bought it from? I might consider doing it myself if I can gain some confidence watching a few videos. At the very least I can attempt a side door before deciding if I can do it on the front door!

You may want to read this before you do any work on external doors.

We had a composite fitted 2018 and went through the big names approved local fitter who is also an excellent double glazing firm (has a good rep locally).

    Deleted incorrect info.

A minor weep some 14 month after fitting was dealt with promptly and no quibble and no charge.

I was fortunate my door opening in the building was square (90 degree angles etc. not shape) and brick and relatively easy. But the bloke had a van full of tools to deal with all eventualities and openings. A van load more than me.

Are we talking FENSA here? I didn't realise FENSA was for doors too. The door will have a small rectangle of glass.

I don't know, theonlywayisup also mentioned building regs stuff so with anything like that I am 100% not doing it myself. Guess I'll just pay over the odds.

It doesn't mean you have to pay over the odds.  You just have to be aware what you can and can't do without Building Regs.  Fensa is just a means for your window company to sign off the BR aspect of the installation.  It doesn't mean any Tom, !!!!!! or Harry can't install, but TD&H will have to apply for BR and show how they comply.
