May I join in with this challenge please, I'm not sure whether I can save the £1 a day but it will be an incentive to try to do it.
    Thanks

    £1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund
  • Hi nannyg
You don't have to do any particular amount, the idea is to save what you can so that there isn't a strain on your finances this time next year.
I've been doing it for a really long time now, I don't miss the money trickling into my savings account.

I get paid weekly and put aside £10 a week into an account for presents.  It covers birthday and Christmas.  I have 4 out of 7 that I buy for with birthdays in December or early January. Works out to £520 a year.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.
