Powersave-is it legit?

Options
I’ve seen an advert on FB for Powersave which you plug in and it apparently stabilizes the supply voltage and reduces inefficiency therefore significantly reducing your electricity bill. Is it legit and if so why aren't green charities and the government all over this to meet the country’s emissions commitments?

Let me guess, it says it reduces the voltage as well so you use less power?
It's just a very old idea with zero basis in fact that has re-emerge.

No it's not legit - however it's a very effective way of extracting money from the gullible

Plenty of YouTube vids showing what they are and what they do (or dont do) and what inside if you are interested. Mostly they just illuminate the little LEDs on the front but they certainly don't save any energy
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
  • "Is it legit". Of course not!
As Dave writes, plenty of Youtube videos highlighting the uselessness of these devices.
Mostly just a capacitor and blingy l.e.ds.

I remember looking at them about 30 years ago.
Now you get little fancy LED's for your money I believe.
Snake oil is the term I think.

They actually installed one of these devices where I used to work. The facilities people talked about how it was going to save us money before it was installed but went very quiet afterwards.
