Just received a tasty £100 cash injection from Halifax into my current acc, but why?

I tried phoning Halifax to ask why but on hold for ages due to Covid, so thought I'd ask here.
Received a "transfer" of £100 into my account with a reference beginning "RP"
This is not a transfer from an outside party or from one of my other Halifax accounts, it seems Halifax have bunged me £100 quid for reasons unknown.
Anyone else had this and know what that "RP" reference is for?

Probably a silly question but are you sure it is RP and not BP (bonus payment)?

    Definitely says "RP."
I did file a complaint with them a few months ago after they screwed up my life by freezing my bank accounts for like 3 weeks.  They've repeatedly sent me texts saying they are investigating my complaint but that their investigation is taking longer than expected due to Covid.  Maybe this £100 is their compensation regarding my complaint?

Well it's not on the list of common payment codes so it must be an uncommon one!

    Aha. That sounds about right!
Maybe I will receive a letter from them in the post confirming this is what the payment is for
  • I received a payment today into my Lloyd’s current account with a reference starting RP and this was definitely a compensation payment following a complaint made earlier in the day. Halifax and Lloyd’s are part of the same group so they very likely use the same codes. I was told I’ll receive a letter shortly confirming the complaint was upheld and detailing the compensation.

I see!  Mystery solved it seems.
Good of them to have sorted out your compo within just a few hours.  I think I put my complaint in at some point in September.  They've just sent me numerous texts since then saying "we are still investigating your complaint."
    Oh well, £100 is welcome.

In my experience they (banks/financial institutions) would ask if you're happy with x amount to resolve the issue, before actually sending it. But I dont think I've ever had a complaint with lloyds group

I had an unexpected credit appear in my Nationwide account several days before receiving the letter, which was dated the same day as the credit, upholding my complaint.

No letter received yet but I'm now pretty sure this must be what the £100 is for. Earlier this week I received a cheque for a couple hundred quid from Halifax in relation to some kind of account charges from 2018.  The money is very welcome and appreciated.  I'm pretty happy with Halifax this week!
