Clearing up mess from Suet Balls under Bird Feeder

Great idea.
Now for another tip.
Get some seed feeders up & fill them with sunflower kernels.
Put similar trays underneath each feeder & watch the birds flock in.
You will be amazed at the variety of birds that come.

Here's an update on my fat ball feeding contraption. Sparrows didn't take to the under-baskets, they prefer the cages, but bigger birds did. I saw 3 starlings in one of the baskets at the same time, feeding alongside the sparrows, so increased feeding space helping.

Even saw a fat wood pigeon in one, which was causing much bouncing of the branches, to the annoyance of the sparrow mob.
Blue tits zip in and out of the baskets from time to time too, so it's getting used by a variety of birds..
Even saw a squirrel on it once too 

Ground feeders still getting some bits as enough scattering around, but not enough so as to create the horrible sludge pile that I ended up using a wallpaper scraper to clear up off the patio slabs.

I like to do my bit to help them through the winter and it gives me pleasure to see them though the window whilst I'm stuck at home.

on my old bird feeders (sunflower hearts) i screwed the lid from the tub of fat balls to the bottom of the bird feeder, so the debris and mess was mostly on the lid and i could wipe it clean/off each day
