I'm not sure what a ' drop hands offer' really means.
    Looking for advice really.
It means they will drop the case if you agree to accept the cost of everything you have done so far, and don't seek costs from them.
Methinks they are trying to wriggle out of it so they don't have to suffer the wrath of the judge because they know they don't have a case.

. Depends how spikey you are.
Having responded to every letter for 5 years, I'm pretty spikey.
I'd love to turn the screw, is there a form of words already available on the forum that you know of that I could copy & paste & get to them before close of business today?
I'm not familiar with how to assemble a claim for costs.

I wouldn't worry about their deadline, it's they who are under pressure because Judge Devlin has required them to comply with his orders by today, as I type, they've got 43 minutes to respond to him. Make them sweat!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

You could just use your own words, it is clear how you feel about this, keep it polite but be forceful.  There is an example summary costs assessment in the example witness statement as part of the NEWBIE sticky - your go-to place for questions.  Also you could search the forum for summary costs assessment.
  • Can we get a case number for this please? I feel like this case will help a lot of people! (myself included!)

Just fired off an email saying I'll settle for £150. Hopefully this will cause them to squirm somewhat.

There's no case number worth having until a judgment has been handed down. As I read the runes, it's not likely to happen. I guess there'll be a notice of discontinuation later this evening, which could well tee them up for an unreasonable behaviour costs claim - especially if they fail to respond to the Judge's order!

Do you mean a court case number?
I'll follow up more thoroughly once the case is complete & hopefully struck out.
The most recent court order above should give you a line of attack for you defence if your case is similar. Clearly the judge doesn't believe the claimant has met any of the points in that letter.

Any help in putting together such a claim would be gratefully received. How do I approach the court? What costs can I claim & hoe much is too much to claim for?

I hope you made it clear that you expect them to pay YOU the £150!
