New house - garage door beeping

Hi all, I’ve just moved house and my garage roller door box thing is beeping 4 times every few seconds, but then sometimes won’t do it for 5 minutes or so then starts again. Both keys are working fine and it’s operating normally from the box itself.

Anyone have any idea what this means?

It could be a battery back up running low and may need replacing.

    Thanks!

What is the battery back up? And why would it be running on the battery? The unit is plugged into the wall socket?

In case of a power cut.  Without a battery back up, your car could be stuck in the garage until the power came back on again.
Same for electric house/fire alarms.  They also have battery back ups in case of power cuts.
  • To allow it to operate even in the event of a power cut, I guess.

Anyhoo, what make and model is it? You make yourself a cuppa, and us folks will look it up for you... :-)

Usually safety sensor batteries bottom of door?

You need to get a manual.

It would be unusual for a domestic garage door to have a battery backup, they usually have a manual hand crank system for use in power fail.
  • I'm also going for safety sensor batteries at the bottom of the door

Have you tried emailing eurodrive for the answer?

Adding to this thread because it just resolved my problem. Same symptom - door rises, controller beeps four times rapidly, several times. Then controller won’t lower the door, clicks a few times then beeps again. The sensor is attached to the bottom edge of the roller door - mine was also a Eurodrive, and the sensor cover needed a push down on one end then slide to take off to opposite side (photo below shows unit and cover - cover does need to slide left or right to get off).

The required batteries for mine were 2x ER14505 3.6V AA-size non-rechargeable lithium. The current ones were put in by the previous house owner so I think they have lasted almost ten years (edit: date on batteries was 2019 so lasted about five years not ten)
