Vent - Davina McCall - Own Your Goals

My wife received an offer from the NHS who she works for, to have a free 30 Day trial of the Davina McCall - Own Your Goals fitness program. She signed up using the link and added the 30 day offer code. On the 14th day the company has taken a £40 payment (which is the 6 month plan). We have tried to contact the company via their website and they have basically said tough. We have tried to contact them via their Facebook page and Twitter but have had no response. Is contacting her bank to do a charge back now our only option?
Looking at their Facebook page, it turns out other people have had numerous problems with unable to cancel trials and payment being taken.

Correct, but she signed up via the offer link provided which offered 30 Day trial. She had to use her NHS email address, which she did.

What did did the terms say, how did she try and cancel and when? What was the issue you describe that prevented her (and others) from being able to cancel?1

As a total guess ... the T&Cs state that it was a 30 day free trial, but you had to cancel the trial* within 14 days otherwise you were agreeing to be bound by a 6 month minimum term contract.
* Invoking the cancellation wouldn't stop the trial - it would merely let them know that there would be no further contract after the 30 days.
If the above is true then it sounds rather sneaky.3 -

It looks like they have completely ignored their own T&Cs.12.2 If you have subscribed to the Service using a Promotional Code or as part of a Free Period offered by us as described in Section 10 of these Terms, the following cancellation provisions apply:12.2.1 if you cancel your subscription during the first 14 days, your subscription will continue until the end of the first 14 days of your Free Period and will then terminate;12.2.2 if your Free Period is longer than 14 days and you cancel before your Free Period expires, your subscription will continue until the end of the Free Period; and12.2.3 if you cancel after your Free Period has expired, your subscription will terminate in accordance with Section 12.3.Contact your card / bank and tell them an unauthorised debit has been taken and the company are refusing to refund. Get screenshots of the offer and the T&Cs for evidence. Also contact the department that deal with these offers and raise a complaint that the provider is acting unethically. If you a keen social media user you could bug Davina herself on whichever media she uses.

Well finally got it resolved. The OYG people finally admitted they made a mistake and should not have debited the amount prior to the 30 Day trial ending. They thankfully have refunded the money to my wife1
