Debt with fluid passed to Moorcroft but not defaulted?

Hi
I currently have a debt with Fluid, and this has been passed onto Moorcroft, however a default notice hasn't been applied to the account. I just wondered what the procedure was for getting a default notice applied? I'm keen to set up a payment plan, but I won't be able to clear the account for longer than six years based on my current income (change in circumstances) and don't really want it dragging on for longer than six years. What's the best way to proceed?

Ask them to apply a default for the appropriate time (ie 6 months from defaulting on the debt).0

Cheers for the reply
I did some more digging and apparently at the 60 day mark, they pass the debt onto a third party but don't register the default in case you can get the account back out of arrears. They will only mark it as defaulted at 180 days if you're unable to clear the arrears. It's unusual to say the least.0 -
It matches the guidance really,
As a general guide, [a default may be recorded] when you are 3 months in arrears, and normally by the time you are 6 months in arrears.
Most likely they’ll default and in a year or so sell it off to someone else to deal with.

There is a tendency for some companies to drag their feet when it comes to applying defaults, moorcroft are just collectors, so I would not expect a default until they have run through their standard series of template letters with you, and passed it back to fluid.

Hi
Just an update to let you know that a similar thing has happened with Vanquis. them, and have been advised by Step Change to raise it with the financial ombudsman. Unfortunately MBNA have followed suit and have also arranged Moorcroft to act on their behalf.
The FO have a backlog so did say to expect a 4-6 month wait. I'm currently paying £1 per month (as I have a negative surplus at the end of each month) as a good will gesture while this process is going on. Hoping my situation changes if I can find a higher paying job, but I don't expect that to happen just yet, so £1 per month it is for now
Edit:- I've checked my credit club account, and what it says on there seems to contradict what Moorcroft have told me.
Cabot (I believe this is Fluid) defaulted 31/03/2021
Vanquis defaulted 30/06/2021
Capital One defaulted 26/03/2021
MBNA defaulted 01/06/2021
So it looks like Vanquis and MBNA are still the account holders, but have asked Moorcroft to act on their behalf. They haven't sold the debt on. Very peculiar. The only account which doesn't have a default registered against it according to credit club is HSBC. HSBC was showing over 6 months late payment wise (when really it was about 9) and now is showing up to date. Yet I've received a letter saying that it will be passed to collections. Will have to watch this one for issues.
I'm wondering which is correct. Moorcroft confirmed both Vanquis and MBNA haven't defaulted the accounts, yet a default has been registered.0
