Royal Mail Tracking

I bought a product from a company & they have processed the order on the 20th November. I hadn't heard anything from them, so contacted them yesterday only to be told it had been dispatched. I paid £4.95 postage for the tracked option & was duly given a tracking number when I asked. When I type the tracking number into the RM tracker I get the following message:

An update will only be provided once we attempt to deliver your item.

Does this mean it's actually been sent yet by the sender? It's not a message I've seen before when tracking.

That’s likely to be a standard parcel , although sometimes signed for can show that as well. Post is terribly slow in some areas at present , but keep in touch with the seller and if it starts to look like it is lost rather than delayed ask them for a refund.

No one can answer that at all- depends on what service was used, whether 'dispatched' means actually passed to a courier or merely sitting in a warehouse waiting to be collected . If the estimated delivery time, which is usually given on UK company sales has long gone then contact the company and ask. Most companies are happy to provide tracking so buyers can watch it themselves and see any delays.

The royal mail message "An update will only be provided once we attempt to deliver your item." means that the dispatched item has been received into the royal mail system. You will not see another message until delivery has been attempted.
Your supplier has not chosen fully tracked service merely a confirmation of delivery
