My partner and I are getting married next year. We own the house we live in. My partner receives ESA and PIP. Will my my partner's benefits be affected if I own a second house? Does it count as my partner owning it as well if we're married?
Thanks

If your partner is in receipt of Contribution Based ESA only your property won't affect his claim. If he is in receipt of any Income Related benefits you will be treated as a couple and your income and any other assets, including property will be considered.

As they live together already will they not already be treated as a couple for income related benefits?TELLIT01 said:If your partner is in receipt of Contribution Based ESA only your property won't affect his claim. If it was going to be affected it would have been already (if all properly declared) as you are already living together. Being married doesnt change anything.1

You're absolutely right. I somehow missed the fact that they are already living together.General_Grant said:
