"Foreign" bank accounts

Hi,
It seems necessary to prove residence in the UK to open a UK bank account (which is fine) but my question is: what if I move abroad? Do I have to close my UK bank accounts or can I continue to operate them?
TIA.

There isn't a 'one size fits all' answer to that, so check with your banks what their stance is in such circumstances....0

I kept my UK banks when I lived in Hong Kong. Admittedly - just due to laziness and not wanting to complicate things I kept my UK address on them. My UK residence was rented out but my tenants just looked after my post for me. I did change the address of one account (Halifax) and they were fine with me having a Hong Kong address.
Now I am in UK I still have my Hong Kong Bank account under my UK address. No issues there either.
So, yes it is doable. Whether all banks are ok with it or if it applies to any country I do not know.0 -
That depends on the bank and where you are relocating too.0

When we left the UK to move to Australia in 2006 we kept our Nationwide account open and still use it today. They have our Australian mailing address.
