2-3 years paying that much would cover the cost of a new boiler install. As previously said, find a good local plumber and save the money to have ready should you need it.0

Self-insurance is always the best insurance. Put a little aside each month into a generic rainy day fund, and when the boiler gives out, buy a new one.
The only things worth insuring are things you really couldn't afford to pay for should the worst happen (e.g buildings insurance).2 -

The only things worth insuring are things you really couldn't afford to pay for should the worst happen (e.g buildings insurance).So true, we used to put money aside, an emergency fund, don't bother now as we have ready funds.We currently have a decent heating engineer, he services the boiler for £50 each year and if I have any problems he'll be there within 24hrs.Maybe we've been lucky over the years, never had any form of cover on any appliance, just have it fixed or replaced out of pocket.0
