A bit tired of naff bamboo canes snapping under the weight of over productive Borlotto! Is there a happy medium between a permanent Frame and flimsy bamboo for building a seriously robust bean A-Frame? All suggestions welcome !

My builders' merchant sells trellis battens; a bit thinner than roofing battens, but pressure treated the same. Not every DIY place will stock them and they're 3.6m long, but they go in my van!

Rebar which is used to strengthen concrete is useful and comes in different diameters & lengths, it can also be painted.
