Building insurance for "unusual" construction

Does anyone know a good insurance provider for houses with "unusual" contruction? My house has got a flat roof covered in a special roofing rubber (g'tee for 15 years) and I'm finding it hard to get building insurance for it. The only one I came up so far was Halifax. The premium was about 3 times what it would have been had it be a pitch roof.

Any ideas much appreicated. Thanks!

Norwich union maybe able to help.

The Abbey POM (unlimited) product maybe of assistance. It is underwritten by NU and they have a Technical Refferal Unit that maybe able to help, your premium will probably get loaded though.

Try on abbey.com but it will probably get declined.

I think the abbey staff have to call through to the TRU whilst you are on hold so will probably need to call the sales line for your special circumstances.

I live in a wooden 'bungalow' with a flat roof and also I live next to a river!!! So needless to say finding insurance was almost impossible, BUT I do have insurance with a company called naturesave (http://www.naturesave.co.uk), they are an ecological insurers and as far as I know, when I spoke to them, they don't turn down anyone with non-standard construction.
