Dispute with workman - small claims court questions

Sounds strange. I've no experience of this form of mediation but does anyone know if, when things aren't socially distanced, are you in the same room at the same time? Would be peculiar if you both sat outside, got called in one by one, and then out, then in again. That's what in effect has happened here whereas phone conferences (or zoom etc.) are simplicity itself to organise.aroominyork said:
Yes, phone. He spoke with us individually. He rang me, then him, then me, then him, then me.robatwork said:
What a clown. What format did the mediation take - phone conference?aroominyork said:The mediation was this morning. He offered £25. What a complete waste of everyone's time (including the mediator) so unfortunately we will now waste the court's time whenever this is heard later in the year.0 -
The mediation I am currently involved with uses Zoom. The mediator can speak to us all together or to either side alone and then bring us all together again. It works well. I think the way yours operated made it easy for your guy to make a silly offer as he didn't have to face you when he did it.aroominyork said:

The mediator remained friendly but neutral. He had no advance info of what the case was about - didn't even know it was about a dishwasher!Jeepers_Creepers said:Did you get any feedback from the mediator? Was he/she of the impression that the offer was ridiculous?Did this process reaffirm your belief that you have a good case?Yes, it reaffirmed by belief that my case is strong - the mediator told me the other guy's defence including that I should claim against the warranty company. But if it goes to court there is one thing I think I need to take with me: independent evidence that low voltage dishwasher wiring should not be soldered or have wiring connectors used. Any ideas how I could obtain this?
