Bathroom floorboard removal

Mutton_Geoff said:That is a valid train of thought but in all my house renovation projects I had to make decisions about what is more likely. Pipe leaks are extremely rare (if the plumbing is done properly) but a wobbly floor and cracked tiles will be more of a nuisance every time you go into the bathroom. It's usually an easier job to repair the leak by cutting open the ceiling downstairs and attacking it from below. Ceilings are an easy repair. Refixing your bathroom flooring will be more hassle whether its fitted to a nice sheet of water resistant ply or some chopped up bits of old mdf. Sometimes you have to weigh up the "what ifs" and do the job to the best standard you can.
A single piece of ply might be easier in some ways but not others. Getting it through the door for one.
If I do replace it all and remove the bath, I’m sure it would be quite solid in sections, how ever many.
Also was wondering what thickness it needs to be. Maybe not 18mm like the chipboard as ply is stronger.

Thanks for the replies.
I’ll probably be taking it all up and replacing.
Subfloor type depends on the floor surface type so looking at various options.
Local building supplies has water resistant laminate click together flooring which is 8mm depth.
From posts online, Aquastep and Dumafloor laminate flooring is waterproof and may be worth considering.
Either way I don’t think subflooring thicker than 18mm is needed.
