UKPC

Hiya
I received a parking fine from the ukpc for parking in a free retail car park after hours. Me and a couple of freinds from work parked up there to have a laugh and a chat to end and reflect on the week. None of us left our cars and the car park was pretty much empty.  We left the car park at 23:54 and the letter we received in the post said that it was a no parking zone between the hours of 23:30-07:00
It is a £100 fine and if I pay within the first 14 days it will be reduced to £60.
Am I better to just pay the £60? Or am I right to try and fight this as it's a large empty free car park that I saw no harm in parking in at night when it wasnt being used for anything. Thanks

It is not a fine.  Please read the newbies.

    UKPC have form, read this,

However, what puzzles me is why you thought it was acceptable to park on private land against the wishes of the landowner.  These companies make their money from people who do this.

    It is not a fine.
    The car was parked.
Empty or not, parking terms and conditions may have been breached.
Normally Plan A is to get a landowner cancellation, but under the circumstances that may not be forthcoming.
What the driver did is one of the reasons why these unregulated scammers exist.

Follow the advice in the sticky thread for NEWBIES by sending the appeal template in blue text you will find there.

Send it unaltered from The Keeper. Read up on what to do next if/when it is rejected.

Unfortunately what you think is irrelevant.  It's now going to cost you a lot of time and effort to research and appeal to avoid having to stump up.  No doubt you can have another chat (but fewer laughs!) with your mates who will now likely be jumping through the same hoops as you!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Show us the sign (go get a photo, you will need it for 2nd stage appeal).  We need to see what wording it says about overnight parking.

Also show us both sides of the NTK please (the NEWBIES thread post #5 explains all acronyms if you need to check what we mean).

Was it received within 14 days?

Have you now read NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST and found the template appeal?
