Give the FOS helpline a ring, see what they would recomend, my guess would be Amigo would be unable to process your complaint due to there being no data, however they owe you more of an explanation than just a generic put down, check with them first to comfirm this is actually the case.

Thank you. I called FOS and they advised me to proceed my case with them, and I don’t have to let Amigo Loan know.
  • Did you pay the loan off ??

If so, it wasn’t really irresponsible as you could afford it

Yes I did pay off both loans and struggled to do so.

DOn't get your hopes up with the FOS. They can't make companies magic data out of thin air and if Amigo truly have none left, and you have asked them for a SAR , there's nothing else you can do and your complaint is over.

  • I've just had a successful refund payout of an old FLM loan and a more recent amigo one, first one dating back to 2011 and they had no issues finding my records.  Both loans were paid off in full by me, my guarantor didn't have to step in but I did struggle to ensure I met every payment. I found them super easy to deal with via Resolver.  I hope FCA can help you with this and you have success.

Thank you. I called FOS and they advised me to proceed my case with them, and I don’t have to let Amigo Loan know.
The first thing the FOS does is ask for information from Amigo about the complaint.   So, whilst you do not need to let them know, they will know within 24 hours.   Amigo, if they genuinely cannot find any information, would let the FOS know that and verify that they were unable to assess the complaint due to lack of information.   In the absence of any data from them or you, the FOS would be expected to verify that the complaint cannot be assessed due to lack of information.
Your only hope here is that a different person takes a look at the complaint at Amigo and is able to locate information that could not be found before.  That has happened on occasion with some complaints (not Amigo but elsewhere).   If they do find something that allows them to assess the complaint, the FOS will give them the opportunity to so.
