British Gas Homeserve

My mom has BG homeserve at £33 a month. Yesterday her boiler wouldn't turn on. No heating. 
Phoned British Gas, she has to wait 4 days for them to come out and fix it. 
Apparently Engineers are very busy this time of year. Who knew!
She asked exactly what it is she pays for a month. The reply was so if she had no heating they could send an engineer out. So she asked if they could kindly do that as she's no heating or hot water ect. 
Yes they can come out, but in 4 days time. 
I thought the advert for BG says that they come out within 24 hours?

Call up her local independent.
They would probably come out the same day.

Not uncommon, I was just chatting to a relative today who mentioned her friend pays a monthly fee for British Gas HomeCare cover, and when their boiler failed on Thursday, they phoned and were told someone would be out on Tuesday. When they complained they couldn't possibly sit in a freezing cold house for days, BG Homecare said there was nothing they could do as yes, you guessed it, they were very busy at this time of year. So they phoned a local company and they said they'd have someone out the next day. The new company also told her that if she's over a certain age, they'd have had someone out within four hours. Needless to say, she's cancelled her British Gas cover.

I had the same thing happen with a fridge freezer a couple of years ago at my elderly
parents in the middle of summer.
Yes they would come out in 10 days time !!
I cancelled all their extended warranties the same day.
