I had a car stolen and recovered, it had been used as a pool car by drug dealers. Who knows what could have been hidden inside it? (I scrapped it).Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!0

If you are selling the car privately, it is sold as seen. There is no need to tell the buyer anything at all. Let them inspect it, show the the service history and that's it. Move on. Ethics have naff all to do with selling old second hand cars. Any used car can have hidden history, for example the previous owner of a used car could of used it to take dead puppies to the tip, if he told you that when you went to view it you wouldn't buy it. Some things are best left hidden.1

I'm old enough to remember when you would wake up to seeing your xr2 on bricks. Never understood why the scumbags only took the peppers but left the rest of the car0

No, if they don't ask, you haven't withheld information.1

To what end would you tell them? Was there damage during the theft? Is it repaired completely? If so then they don't need to know. If the cars easy to pinch then their generic research should have highlighted this. The news that it gotta stolen and recovered doesnt give them any useful info.0

I remember selling my car some years ago and it was a mechanic buying it. He specifically asked had it ever had a repair. I said yes, the door was hit when parked and needed repair and respray. He said he was really happy I had told him as he would be able to tell when lying down on the floor and looking up at the door that it had been resprayed compared to other panels. Not sure if that was true or not
In any event i don't think you need to proffer the information but you have to reply honestly to any questions0
