No, I would not cancel Christmas.
I would let people make the choice of meeting, but to counteract the spreading I would put the country into a full continental style lockdown for three weeks starting on the 27th. All non-essential shops closed, close schools, offices, takeaways, off licenses etc. with just food shops and pharmacy open. Masks outside the home for those three weeks with no exceptions.
Then after three weeks back to closer to normal, shops, pubs, schools, workplaces open, vaccinate the vulnerable and the rest of us can take our chances according to our own choices until we are vaccinated.0 -
No, I wouldn't cancel it, and I'm still planning on going to my parents. We're both in tier 3, they don't go out, I'm on my own and I've been self-isolating since finishing work and then tested to make sure I'm negative. I also work at a university, and frankly if the students can travel home after being in the same environment I don't see why I can't be the same (honestly, the lack of government action over the unis and schools is shocking - especially seeing it first hand).
If you take proper precautions I don't see why small things can't go ahead. Huge family gatherings maybe not, but smaller visits are possible if you're sensible!Make £2025 in 2025 total £241.75/£20250 -

IMO the people who need to think outside the box are the ones who’ve been brainwashed into believing that a random date in December is important and run around like loons overspending, overeating, overdrinking and boring others to insanity with their constant squawking, from about September onwards, about “Christmas shopping”, their social arrangements (or lack of, this year) and how early they’ve put their tree and tacky decorations up.The only way to avoid all the nonsense is to hibernate from mid September until the beginning of January.Bit rude to assume everyone who enjoys something different to you is "brainwashed". If it's not for you, that's cool, just do your hibernating and leave everyone else alone to enjoy their "nonsense". At least it's only for a season - there's some obsessions that people "squawk" about all year - most of us learn to accept that people have different interests and priorities.

I heard a new expression yesterday, ‘Yule-zilla’ - like a bridezilla except about Christmas - unfortunately I seem to be surrounded by them!2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07
