Make Christmas Saturnalia Again0

It's likely that Jesus was born in September, but the leaders of the early Church knew that they would be on a hiding to nothing if they tried to celebrate His birth at harvest time and then scrapped the old winterfest.

for those that don't celebrate christmas anyway, this year is no different to any other they still get it forced on them by narrow minded people.0 -

There are lots of things that I don't take part in and/or have no interest in but when I see people celebrating and enjoying these things I don't think "oh look at them forcing their celebrations on me" I actually like seeing other people enjoy themselves.
You must live a pretty sad life if seeing other people celebrating things gives you negative thoughts.0 -

I could argue my point but you have done that yourself by your narrow minded comments.0 -

You seem to enjoy calling people "narrow minded" when they do something or say something you don't agree with but seem unable to explain why that is...
I would say the narrow minded person is the one who feels other people celebrating things is the same as it "being forced upon them"...0 -

Well I can only comment on what you have posted on here and if anything I was saying was wrong you would obviously clarify it for everyone else on here reading. The fact you haven't done that shows I haven't said anything that is wrong.
If you think I'm being rude by saying "narrow minded" then maybe you shouldn't have called other people that to start with in your first post on this thread.
But this post again shows the kind of attitude you have, it's fine if you say things or do things but if other people say or do things you don't like then it's a big problem.
Just remember the only person your upsetting is yourself while the rest of us are going to carry on enjoying Christmas and other celebrations whether you like it or notMerry Christmas

Depends on "cancel Christmas' and how big a cynic you are...
What is the purpose? To catch up and spend time with the family? A celebration of the birthday of one person whose views 'may have been warped over time to suit a/various purposes
Or to spend vast amounts on stuff for the sake of it to please others?
I cannot go to see family for Christmas (they are all lower tiers/in higher risk groups and I am drained mentally. So will be at home with wife, cats and a couple of people in our building we formed a bubble with.
I don't understand the 'commercial side of Christmas that is seen as important'
But I prefer a simple life.May you find your sister soon Helli.

IMO the people who need to think outside the box are the ones who’ve been brainwashed into believing that a random date in December is important and run around like loons overspending, overeating, overdrinking and boring others to insanity with their constant squawking, from about September onwards, about “Christmas shopping”, their social arrangements (or lack of, this year) and how early they’ve put their tree and tacky decorations up.The only way to avoid all the nonsense is to hibernate from mid September until the beginning of January.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07
