Shell energy

I am currently with shell energy and have been since august 2020
My payments where £54.00 per month for both
Shell energy offered to fit smart meter for free and i said yes. So i had smart meter for gas and electric fitted in september.
I was told by shell energy that the smart meters will provide them with readings on a regular basis and i would not need to bother giving them any meter readings manually.
So based on the above info i changed my payment method to one where i only pay for what i use. So it is not a fixed rate of £54 a month anymore the cost will be what ever i have used each month. And i like the idea of this.
However, this never happend. End of October 2020 shell energy contact me asking for meter readings. I provide meter readings manually and contact them asking why it is not been collected automatically. Shell energy tell me that there is an issue and will send out engineer in November.
November. No bill and no engineer and they did not take any payment. Engineer Did not turn up with no contact to tell me what is happening.
End of November. Shell energy ask me for meter readings.
This time it turns out my electric meter is faulty and is all 000s..so no reading can be taken.
I contact shell energy. They tell me the meter is faulty and will send out engineer.....in February 2021...
So i gave shell energy my gas reading only.
Shell energy said they will estimate my electric bills until a repair is carried out and then they will re calculate my bill.
And that is my problem. It is not my fault the electric meter is not working. So what if the estimate cost is too high ?
I don't mind paying estimate as long as it is reasonable to my normal usage...

Just send them readings every month from the meters on the wall, exactly as you did before.0
