Is it likely the online store will be offering goods at discounted prices anytime soon?

JD are/were a hellish company to work for, so the idea of them talking-over Debenhams did seem like a potential mixed blessing for the affected staff.  I doubt that many would have kept their jobs (or at what personal cost if they did) for long after any "rescue".

I've just managed to get onto the site having heard rumours of 70% clearance from today, but it's just the standard sale prices from before with a 10 minute queue to get into the site.

Well, MSE Callum...I've just tried the link in your post to the story and get

I got the same message in a very similar MSE message about Arcadia.

Is anyone else having the same problem or is it just me?

    Media at its worst.

    According to BBC:

The Debenhams website has been overwhelmed by shoppers searching for bargains after the department store chain collapsed.

The firm launched a stock clearance sale on Wednesday at 07:00 as non-essential retailers in England reopen after a four-week lockdown.

But high demand sent thousands online, and long, virtual queues. On Tuesday there were reports the site crashed.

"We have been seeing unprecedented levels of visits," a spokesperson said.

In a bid to keep up with the additional demand, the retailer was forced to implement a queuing system for its website, which promised customers: "We will get you onto the site as soon as possible."

As confirmed by lardconcepts, there are no clearance bargains to be had, just the dregs of the sale.

I just wonder how safe it is to buy online as the store is going into liquidation!
Is it possible you won't get your orders and lose your money too?

Help please. I bought something online with a gift card (majority of it purchased via this method) and a debit card (around £5 spent to purchase the rest of the balance). Unfortunately Debenhams made a mistake whilst picking and sent me the wrong size. So now I can’t exchange for the size I ordered as a) it’s online so they don’t exchange and b) the size has now sold out. Nobody on their online help seems to be able to tell
me if they can refund the gift card portion to my bank card, seeing as there’s no point giving me a gift card as they expire in two days time.

Does anyone know my rights here?
