Money back?

Hello guys,
I would like to know if there is any chance of getting my money back? Last year( December) I have borrowed my friend with £500 ( online transfer) and looks like he doesn't want to give my money back. When a friend asks to borrow money it's a bit difficult to refuse, especially when is only £500. Is not the first time when I borrow him  money and every time was very difficult to get them back. The only proof I have is the bank statement . The only person who knows about this is my girlfriend. What can I do ?
I would really appreciate your help.
thanks.

Without any written agreement I think you will struggle to enforce any action.

    I see your point.
In future, if I do a written agreement( a hand written piece of paper) will it help?

It might help you to win a judgement in court but it won't necessarily help get your money back.  You can't get blood out a stone.  Probably best all round if you stop lending people money in the first place.

Little chance if you lent it informally.

They are not your friend.  You are unlikely to see your "acquaintance" or your money again.  Chalk it up to experience and move on.  And for future reference, saying no is not difficult.

Sadly it is for some. Go on the loans board and you will see people who have been guarantor for work colleagues.  Like hell I would.  If they have to borrow from a company that requires that it means their credit is shot to pieces and can't get main stream lending a big red flag!!!!  So a big fat NO.
I was lucky and only got caught the once when I was 21 and it was £500 never ever again

when you lend money to friends and family, you have to think that there is a high probability that you won't be paid back.  my husband is always lending money to his friends and they take forever to pay him back but he never says no to them as he is an idiot.

I think you always have to consider it a gift and if it is paid back then it's a bonus. I'm glad you said 'only' £500 so perhaps just think of it as a lesson learned and don't do it again. Never a borrower or a lender be....
