I didn’t see the court letter

Could you expand on this please?

Sadly it's not a court worthy defence, basically, my wife mistakenly put the mail somewhere that day and I didn't stumble across it until sometime later. Its a bit lame TBH, it's not the sort of thing a judge would have any sympathy for, that's why I didn't expand. My question is more "this is where I am now, what shall I do".

Tell us the date of the CCJ because as the solicitor has correctly pointed out , you have a month to pay it to avoid it being entered on your credit rating !!

Your feelings are not relevant , facts are

It's from "County Court Business Centre" (Northampton), which appears to be a private company that administers genuine county court business but has loads of dubious Google reviews - most saying its a scam court but they do issue CCJs.
    Wake up!!

    Google County Court Business Centre.

Look at all the .gov.uk webpages listed.
It's a Government office, just like the DVLA is a Government Office.

Sorry, typo, "parking eye". Ian Hislop is not issuing parking tickets!

    "Google County Court Business Centre."
I did, that's how I got to the google reviews!

Nobody is interested in the Google reviews

It's a government office in Northampton , with civil servants inside

The only thing that matters now is the date on the CCJ notice

I struggle to see why the explanatory notes regarding how to make payment aren't clear.

What is the date of the judgment. You get 28 days to pay before an unpaid judgment debt is registered for 6 yrs.

    https://www.gov.uk/county-court-judgments-ccj-for-debt

It is interesting but does seem to imply the 28 days is quite optional. There is a comment "if you pay in full within one month you can ask the court to cancel entry into the register" - this doesn't sound like a slam dunk, and there are no instructions on how to ask the court to set this aside.

    Yes it is optional.

If you choose to take the option, then, as stated, you can ask the court to cancel the entry in the register.

If you choose not to take that option, the entry will remain on the register for six years.

    Your choice.

I think you misread, to clarify, optional for the court, not for me - its the "ask" not "request" term that concerns me.

You don't have a right to require the judgment to be expunged , but if paid promptly they usually are expunged when you ask and provide proof of payment

If you do nothing , the CCJ stays on your record for 6 years

If you pay after one month , the CCJ stays on your record for 6 years but is marked as satisfied

You have little choice here , depending on the date of the CCJ notice

Google reviews of Government offices? Whatever next?

I cannot imagine any Government office having good reviews, can you?

It is a CCJ.  A proper one from a proper court.

When I sais 'scam CCJ' I meant a CCJ from a scam industry.  I told you how to find the NEWBIES thread, with 2 clicks.  There is no difficulty in navigating this forum, there is a breadcrumb trail taking you back to page one at the top of every page (as explained in my signature below, again).

Post #2 of the NEWBIES thread means the second post of the Newbies thread, the section all about court claims.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
