Last had breakdown cover two years ago (new car had breakdown cover included so have not needed since). Back then you could always get basic cover with either the RAC/AA for about £35-40. These prices were easy to find on their websites.
Looking now, firstly its not the simplest of processes to find the pricing on the websites and when you do basic cover is now in the £80-£100 range.
Am i missing somethng? Is there better pricing hidden away somewhere? Or is this how much RAC/AA breakdown cover costs now.

There are plenty of other providers, of course, and the comparison engines give you a swathe of pricing.
Have a read of this...

Basic cover is not in the £80 - £100 range. I pay just over £100 for extensive cover that even covers my caravan.Daughters cover which is very basic cost £11, at least 1/4 mile away from the home and a recovery home or to thenearest garage. Thats all she needs, anything else she calls me.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I presume that £11 is with one of the Green Flag type operations where they will quite happily take your money at a low price knowing that they will have no one to actually come out and fix your vehicle when it breaks down.0

AA, RAC are the only ones with sizable fleets (but do use contractors). GF have a much smaller one.0 -
No one will guarantee their own liveried vehicle turning up in good time. Surely you've read on this site about people waiting four hours for the RAC to turn up?Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.1

I've been with Start Rescue for the past few years. Competitive prices and good service when we needed to call them out.2

AA/RAC also use local independants, not just their own fleet..there's one recovery firm local to us that usually come out no matter who your policy is with......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
