JSA payment dates

Can someone please help me with my JSA dates please just so that I am aware.

1) Quit job on fri 30/10/20
2) Put my JSA claim in on thu 05/11/2020.
3) They approved my claim - but refused to back date it and said the first week is not payable.
4) Received £21.25 on thu 9/11/20 (2 days out of 7 I presume) and they said I would get £148 every fortnight thereafter.

My query is what 2 days would that cover? And the £148 I should get this week, what dates would that be to/from?
I haven't spoken with anyone about this at all, and was a little shocked to have received it even though I quit my job.  At the moment I presume Covid means they are just approving it?

On a side note: does contribution based JSA have any additional "perks" such as prescriptions ( I currently buy a prepaid certificate), or dental/opticians?

You're not paid for the first 7 days of your claim. Doesn't it state in the letter about payments dates, or when to expect your next payment? It's paid fortnightly so you'll be able to work out your dates from that.
New style JSA doesn't entitle you to any free NHS treatment. Look at the NHS low income scheme for this. https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/nhs-low-income-scheme

You can use a benefits calculator to check whether you are entitled to any Universal Credit on top of your JSA. https://www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators

  • Your paid in arrears with JSA so when you get paid it’s for the previous two weeks.

Looks as if they did backdate it to 1st November so you have a two day payment for 8th and 9th because the first 7 days are unpaid.

The dates don't tie up. Thursday 05/11 and Thursday 09/11? 09/11 is a Monday whereas 19/11, if this was meant, is a Thursday.
