HSBC no help

My elderley friend is terminally ill. He and his wife are isolating and being elderley are not tech savvy. Recently HSBC bank retained their debit cards ,no known reason as account has funds. They are unable to pay bills or get support from the bank at best they get a call from India? Telling them they must re apply for their cards on line. No internet ! ? Can any one suggest how I can help them circumvent this issue. Various bank security protocols prevent me engaging directly and they and a son cannot cope with the systems in place . I have had no response from agencies such as citizens advice

They should be recording a formal complaint over the phone to start with. The take it from there. Important that they get a complaint reference number.

The couple might also wish to seek the assistance of their MP.

In addition, they should arrange for third party access.

    Where did they do this?
They need to call back up and say they do not have internet access and the call center will be able to get the card replaced.

If they get through security, they can ask that they speak to you.

Whatever you do keep a note of exactly who you speak to and when- especially on the phone or in branch.
You may need such details for reference- as well as the complaints number
