Exit Fees

When normally do the exit fees kick in?

I recently had an email from my supplier, So Energy, informing me that my fixed tariff is ending on 27 Jan and giving me a link to renew etc. I then went on Uswitch for a comparison and found a cheaper alternative and went ahead with it assuming the start date would be Jan 28 as was the date I gave in the comparison only to find the start date of the new supply would commence on Dec 16, they did give me the option to change this to a later date but the latest I could do was 16 Jan. What's the likelihood I'd be charged the exit fees from my old supplier?

You can switch without being charged exit fees within 49 days of the end of your tariff, so you should be OK.
