help!

Really needing some advice please, I have debt with southern water £1,500, this debt seems to have been passed onto uksearch they have sent me two letters, I am currently trying to get a mortgage and this doesn’t seem to be on my credit file…yet!
I really don’t want this going onto my credit file during my mortgage application as a default or CCJ?
As this hasn’t been added to my credit report as of yet do I leave it for now until my mortgage has gone through then cancel my water account and contact them or do I contact either southern water or uksearch now and set up a payment method now? (im worried if I do this it will alert them to me and it will go onto my file) Im not being overly pestered at the moment by them!
Do they need to give me options/warning prior to anything being added to my credit file? Should this had been done by southern water when they passed the debt to uksearch?
I just really need to know how to stop this going onto my file please before I get my mortgage! if anyone knows of the steps/timeline?
They haven’t sent a letter saying anything about a default or CCJ as of yet, ANY advice welcome please!

You need to make payment arrangements as soon as you can. Mortgage lenders will ask about your debts so you need to get it as low as you can - preferably paid off in full.
Check all your files, not just one, to see whether it appears and what status.1 -
Thank you for your response, is doing this less likely to make it appear on my credit file? i have been checking all platforms like a hawk and on check my file its not on any of them yet!
Not in a position to pay in full but i could set up a plan i just didn't want to acknowledge it if that'll make them put it on there0 -
Some utility companies report to your credit file, others do not, nothing you do will change their policy on this, so its a moot point.Welsh water appear to crop up on here a lot, and from what i read they use legal action more of a first reponce in a lot of cases, rather than a last resort. If its not on your file now, it never will be, unless a CCJ is obtained, or they change their reporting policy.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. That's reassuring! when i log onto southern water i have an option to pay money too them but no option to set up a payment plan (assuming because its been passed to uksearch) i debated if to just keep logging in via southern water and paying off parts of it when i can rather than going via uksearch as i don't want uksearch popping up in my bank statements? would this then pass the debt back to southern water if they see im paying it? Sorry for all the questions ive never got myself into this mess before and im loosing sleep!0

Defaulted accounts are passed over to debt collectors until that account is repaid in full.If the collectors are ignored, then its more likley legal action to recover the balance will be taken.I beleive cash can be paid over the post office counter, with the bill details, if you do not want a papertrail.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
