Switching from regular Barclaycard to Rewards Barclaycard

Is it possible to switch products with Barclays?  Specifically change a regular Barclaycard platinum to a Rewards Barclaycard?  Or do you have to close the existing card, wait 6 months and reapply?

I believe you can, why not call Barclaycard to get confirmation either way?

I changed from a Forward to a Rewards recently. It can only be done over the phone, and not via the secure messaging in your internet browser. However, I'd start by going into your browser (not your app) and sending a secure message requesting the change - they'll then reply with the number they want you to call to action it. I did that, and the first person I spoke to noted my request - and then logged me for a call-back from the relevant department They said it would take up to 2 weeks in the current circumstances - but I got a call back the same afternoon from a friendly call-handler from Scotland. It was a bit of a faff - going around the houses - but got there in the end.

Yes you can change your Barclaycard platinum to the rewards one as I did it earlier this year. I called them to see if I could change it and they gave me 2 choices The rewards with cash back or there freedom rewards card (which isn’t available to new customers). 

You have to do it on the phone as they have to read you some legal blurb and make sure you understand the choice you’ve made.

That reminds me - when I was swapping they tried to put me on freedom rewards - and had to specify it was the cash back that I wanted. Make sure if you’re changing that you listen carefully to what they say and don’t just say yes to everything 😂
