Can I claim working-from-home tax relief?

Hi,
My employer is a large manufacturer and most people cannot work from home due to the nature of their jobs; however, I am in a role where I can WFH and my line manager wants no more than two people at a time in the office (an office set up for five people) - this is a request from my line manager and not a company-wide policy. My question is therefore can I claim tax relief? Does this fulfill the criteria: "if your employer requires you to work at home"?
Thanks,
E

Why you are working from home is not relevant, what matters is that you are working from home. Are you?
If yes then you can.0 -

Can't see an issue claiming however you would be much better off financially if you could get your employer to agree to pay you even just half the maximum £6/week tax free payment they are able to pay you.

Not quite correct. The relief is available if you are required to work from home not if you choose to. That said it sounds like your employer is requiring you to work from home as they want to limit the number of people in the office.
And let's be honest assuming you are claiming the default 6.00 per week I hardly think HMRC will be querying that this tax year!.0 -
HMRC have said the allowance is available to anyone whose emplyer has asked them to work from home to avoid spreading the virus.0
