I received my final bill from ovo in August and a refund due to my account being in credit. I have now received an email saying that I owe them money. Has this happened to anyone else? Can they do this?

Presumably the final bill in August was based on  under-estimated or incorrect meter readings. When the correct meter readings are obtained by Ovo a revised bill is issued. This happens quite a lot.
Did you switch supplier, or move from the property, and did you supply the final meter readings.

Thank you for your reply. I supplied my final meter readings and they are the same as my new supplier starting readings.
  • I have had this happen today  after  I had asked asked for  and received some of overpayment back a month ago. Email  saying they had made an error and had not been adding my monthly charges as expected  which had caused build up of credit on my account and they have rectified and charged account for usage since June . My balance is now in debit    and while i am in a position to adapt to this others may not. I feel i should have had some forewarning before adjustment made and have e- mailed back to say this. I wonder how long this would have gone on if I hadnt made the claim.

@ roughcaster...Do you agree with their claim of not "adding up" your bills/charges correctly?  If you do, why did you request money back from them knowing that it would put your account into a debit situation?  If you don't then you should challenge their "adding up"
