Replacement light switch pull cord connectors

I need to replace the light switch pull cord but I'm struggling to tie a knot so can you buy a connector that you don't have to tie a knot in.

I'll make a guess and say trying to knot the new cord onto the old cord.
There are things that protect the knot, make it look neater and stop the strain of repeated pulling of the cord
What sort of knot are you trying to make in it - and is it genuine cord for the job?

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

The cord from the light fitting is so short.

I think it's easier to replace the switch. It's cheap and any decent DIYer can do it.

New pull cord switch time.  The cord breaks as it rubs on the plastic each time the light is used.
  • Does anyone know of a quiet pull switch ? -  They generally sound like they are switching a 3 phase motor rather than just turning on a couple bulbs - well thats what it sounds link in the middle of the night anyway

i don't think such a thing exists as the switch is designed to be pulled quite hard to turn it on.  only option is to have a switch ourside the bathroom or an intelligent light.

I would highly recommend this one:

It's slightly more expensive than the louder ones but it's by far the quietest one I've ever had and it also only needs a very light pull to operate.

    Thanks for the recommendation above
However I just got one, and I afraid have to say I don't notice any difference between that,  both on noise level and pull strength and what I already have fitted ( 30 year old switch)  and thats before I fit it to the large sounding board that is the plasterboard ceiling
I did get the Contactum one, not sure, maybe they changed design from when you got them, but I would definitely question that claim you highlighted in TLC cat
