Hi
Im in the search of some black iron decorative but also bearing joist hangers for our old cottage.
Ive only seen a few online and mostly out of stock or the wrong size. 3 of the joists are 55mm wide, the other 45mm. Both about 18cm in height.
Something similar to these,- https://www.amazon.co.uk/Simpson-Strong-Tie-OHU68-SDS3-Ornamental-Hanger/dp/B07B282Z7B
Does anyone know where i can hold of these things?
Kind regards

Those don’t look particularly decorative, just painted black. How about something a bit more ‘blacksmiths’?

Hi
Thanks for your reply. Yes saw the blacksmiths, could be an option but expensive.
I just want something nicer than the standard silver ones below as they're gonna show in that section of the house.

When I needed a joist hanger for an 8-inch oak beam I ended up fabricating one out of 6mm steel and painting it black, though I did have access to a welder at the time. An old cottage would likely have metalwork made by the local blacksmith and quite ‘chunky’, hence my previous suggestion if you want something reasonably authentic. Even painted modern, thin joist hangers will probably look out of place. I know the ‘blacksmith’ ones are expensive but unless you’re renovating to sell you’ll likely be seeing them for a long time, so it’s a case of what you can live with.0
