Hi All,
Those of you that have a BMW, have you carried out an MOT at a non BMW service station and have they reset the MOT light for you?
I got mine done at a local MOT place last year and they couldn't reset the light so I've just lived with it for a year. Annoying now so want to make sure its reset this time round. My local BMW centre don't have appointments until mid December and they charge something like £55!
Any guidance?

Plenty advice on Google and is easy to do.

From doing a search on Google, it appears that some BMW's and Mini's have a separate light or indication that lights up when the MOT is due:

Why would anyone who saw that light think it meant "Your MOT is Due"?
I'd never guess that in a million years. :)

(I'd have to get the handbook to it)

Be interesting to see how the interval for it is set, too, given that there are a variety of regimes across different countries.

And how do you tell it that it's just been tested early, so the expiry date moved forward? Or that it's been tested within the 30-day period, so the expiry is nearly 13mo away...?
Or that it's a taxi, so it needs testing every 6mo from new?

Hi All, so I've got a 3 series 2012 model but the car shows up a red service light. I used to think it was saying service due so I remember being told by BMW it does the same for MOT. If you go into the settings somewhere, I do recall there is somewhere where you can set it so it changes the date of the MOT but I'm not sure if that resets the light?
