Is there a convincing, quality, sheet vinyl that can be used instead of vinyl 'planks'? Ie, that has the quality textured finish, the 'real' wood grain (if that's the choice), the T&G grooves, etc, all in an off-the-roll sheet?Surely the ideal solution - fully waterproof when sealed against the skirtings.

I've just got some for a bathroom in a BTL and I went for this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233161117236
its like laminate flooring (as we know it) but it's slightly thinner, made from vinyl, flexible, and waterproof.
yea it's expensive per sq m, and I would not dream of doing a room 25 Sq, M but for small rooms(particularly bathrooms) I think it's ideal.
that fact that it flexible saves on installation costs, you can bend it in place, there is a lot less cutting. you can actually just score it with a knife and snap it off. Its also easily removeable and can be easily re-laid2 -

‘You can put laminate over particle board, but it is strongly advised to avoid this if possible. Particle board is very susceptible to moisture which can cause it to swell and deform. It's also not a suitable subfloor when it comes to stability as it is not structurally supportive.’

LVT is ideal for bathrooms. I've got Quick-Step (click together not glue down) and didn't use an underlay although I did put 9mm ply down as my bathroom floor was patchy. Cut the edges nice and neat and finish with clear silicone.Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.2
