Proof of name change

Hi 20 years ago I used my partners/father of my children’s surname, I had a couple of account with little woods, I reverted back to my name when we broke up, but now my ppi is being processed they want proof of name change, which I do not have, as it was not official, where do I stand regarding this? Will my claim be rejected if I can not give proof.

Will my claim be rejected if I can not give proof.It is possible that they wil refuse to investigate without evidence that it is you (i.e. it wont even get the uphold/reject stage).
Does the children's birth certificates carry your actual name or used name from that period? They normally have the mother's date of birth, address and full name.
