Shell Energy can't read Smart Meter with 2 Rates (Economy 7)

I have just switched my gas and electricity to Shell Energy and discovered that they can't read my SMETS 2 Smart Meter because I am on Economy 7 and would I submit readings for them and if I want my bills to be accurate then do it every month. They tell me that the problem won't be fixed until February (didn't say which year). My IHD is also not displaying electricity figures. 
This rather defeats the objective of having a Smart Meter doesn't it.

    I've got Economy 7 meter and was moved to Shell after Green Energy went bust. They keep badgering me to move to a smart meter.

    Has your installation now been resolved? And do you still get day/night rate tariffs?
