It's a bit meaningless because those that pay the highest referrals often charge higher prices.  All that money has to come from somewhere, and it's you !
Have a look at the referrals board here at MSE, but also compare using Citizens Advice and 'Switch with Which?' so that you see all suppliers.
Basically, there's no magic supplier, you'll just have to do the sums and see what comes up.

Last time I looked at referral deals (~ March this year) EVERY one was going to cost me money nett eg a move to Bulb (who were being heavily promoted by potential referrers) would have cost me £200 pa + !!

There's an old saying "There's no such thing as a free lunch"
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

The great thing about Bulb is that you aren't tired in for a year. I switched to them with a £100 referral and then received another £175 from referring friends and family. Then I had all my credit refunded into my bank account and switched away to a cheaper supplier within about four months.

*Someone* is paying for all those referrals. It isn't me!

....same here ..... moved several times over last few months ... making sure to keep gas and electric from seperate suppliers to maximise payments.....

used bulb and octopus who dont tie you in, currently with so energy, just got a referral payment and about to move out again as they only have a £5 early leaving penalty

also plenty of people on boards who are willing to share half their referral payment with you if use them "blind", last move was away from scottish power *one day* after i got my bonus, the penalty was half paid by the extra "blind payment" on top of my referral payment

current total referral bonus over last 18 months or so ..... around £750 :) so worth the hassle (providing your organised)

just keep a note of when a year has passed since leaving each provider so that you become eligible for the referral again :)
**the market is totally broken** ... inevitable really after the way it was privatised yonks ago into the complicated monster it has become

Shouldn't be about the referral , should be about price and customer service.

Bulb are often quite generous with referral amounts but have dire customer service , I've left and gone to octopus , got a referral but looked on that as a bonus

You may not get many Christmas cards from family and (former?) friends when they realise they've been scammed on to an expensive Bulb tariff...

It's a bit like the old pyramid selling swindles tho'. The person who starts it off and is well organised is £100s up - but sufficient guillible types are NOT so organised ,and as per Gerry1's post - they are paying the price!! I'll stick with hunting out the cheapest deals for my usage and ignore the siren calls of the referrers  :D
