One I've been recommended to buy (Macbook Air with M1 processor) seems same price everywhere but John Lewis seem to give a 2 year guaranteee as opposed to the one year at Currys/Argos, is there a better deal elsewhere?

If this is the new Macbook Air, because its brand new it will cost a fortune. All Apple products brand new cost the earth and then some more when they first come out, until it gets pushed down the pecking order by the next product to come down the line. There is probably little chance of finding it cheaper elsewhere, your best bet may be to see if you can earn some cashback through the various cashback sites.Of of course consider whether you need a Macbook in the first place, as there is probably very little that specifically requires a Macbook that can't be achieved with alternative tools on other platforms.1

The new MacBook Air will not reduce in price by any significant amount for a long time.It might be worth waiting until after Christmas as occasionally JL offer 3 year warranties on Apple products.1

have a look on Apple UK refurbished, you should get a bit off but be quick as they do not stay there for long. plus purchase a longer warranty from Apple or a trusted Ebay seller.0

The best place to buy it is via your kids, nephews, nieces, neighbours kid etc who are currently at university and so gets the full education discount.
Second to that is someone who works for a large corporation and gets an employee discount, The base model via my previous client is £60 off.
Obviously the downside of these approaches is no S75 protection for paying by creditcard as the invoice wont be in your name but Apple probably isnt going anywhere any time soon so hopefully wouldnt need it.2 -

Still pricey of course for those who find that £1000 price point too much.
