ID Check on Credit file

Hello,
I've noticed an ID check on my credit report, from a company I have never dealt with. Have contacted them and have been told they will investigate, but cannot tell me anything further due to data protection. Not happy with this response. For better protection I want to set up an alert on my credit report file. Has anyone used this before and found it useful? As it looks like you have to pay monthly for this service. Or should I order a credit report every few months to check everything is okay. This is the second time this has happened, but a few years back.

I wouldn't pay monthly for a service over something that has happened twice in a few years and has never resulted in anything bad happening, personally.
Sign up for the free monthly reports from Credit Karma, Clearscore and Credit Club and leave it at that (IMO.)0
