Or you have otherwise advised your old bank your new details.
Otherwise how would the old bank know which new bank, and which account, to pass the DD instruction on to?
They are just transferring the DD over to your new account.
I may of missed this, bur which bank are you with? As I find it strange that they can not seek approval before setting up new DD's.Life in the slow lane1 -
The BBC Money Box programme was saying some newly created companies were taking money from peoples current account using go cardless. The only DD I have that uses go cardless shows up as "GC company name". If the fraudulant DD used go cardless then GC want people to contact them. Not sure if that apply to OP.

I'm with Natwest - I have spent about 4 hours on the phone to them today and they insist they cannot add any verification to DD, nor block new DDborn_again said:

Perhaps they're too big and old to adopt the new technologies0 -
Does any bank offer ability to approve DD, since that would be a selling point to me, since the DD seems to have no checks, you can get money refunded, but it doesn't avoid the hassle of getting things fixed.

I don't think any bank does.Samwell94 said:

If you want out of the circle of fraudulent DDs being set up for you, simply move bank.
Not another account with the same one.
An entirely different bank.
And don't use the switching service.
That way there's no way anyone could set up new DDs until they found out the bank and the account number.
At the moment you're just getting someone setting up DDs on an old NatWest account of yours and NatWest are honouring them through your newer account. Annoying but, apparently, inevitable.
Just break the cycle.
Move bank.1 -
In that case I would be looking at moving to another bank. Just do not use the Switching service.Samwell94 said:

Many years ago my husband's business bank card was used by a fraudster. The card was cancelled and a new one issued.
The day he received the new card through the post a debit appeared on his account using the new card number.
He had not received the card, never mind used it, when that transaction took place.
That could only have been an inside job.0 -
Nope it was as a result of the Mastercard/Visa updater. This updates all card numbers.sheramber said:Many years ago my husband's business bank card was used by a fraudster. The card was cancelled and a new one issued.

Seems more likely to be as jonesMUFCforever suggests, a debit made with the old card details, transferred automatically by the bank.sheramber said:Many years ago my husband's business bank card was used by a fraudster. The card was cancelled and a new one issued.

But whatever the explanation it's got little relevance to this thread which is about direct debits, not debit card transactions, and also has had no suggestion about inside jobs.2
